However, this method was convenient but it would inevitably attract attention. Unlike before when he did things and nobody noticed him. Now, he didn't really care if people were aware of his presence.
In recent days, Xianyao not only forged Lingling's sword but also had his own sword remade too. The damaged ones were repaired as well, making them sharper and tougher than before.
This was the advantage of Xianyao in battle; he possessed sharp swords and if one broke, he could still take out another one to make up for the lack of offensive power. Moreover, he added special items to a few of his swords just in case something unexpected happened.
"Lingling, here's your sword and this is for Yeping." Xianyao handed over two swords to Lingling. One was shorter than the other.
"Hmph! You asked me to take care of her so you gave me a sword, are you biased" Lingling said unhappily as she unsheathed and inspected one of them. She found that it shone like crystal-clear water and its sharp blade seemed cold enough to freeze the blood flowing in veins; this sword was much better than the old one.
"Ah! This is such a good sword, where did you get it" Lingling put aside her displeasure and doubted if Xianyao could make something like that. The quality of the sword far exceeded those made by master-grade forgers.
"I said I made them. If you don’t believe me, forget it." Xianyao replied in annoyance.
"I… wouldn’t dream of it! How could you have made this" Lingling denied the fact that he was capable of making such a sword.
"Call it whatever you like. I haven't named them yet," Xianyao casually answered back, his swords only received names once they were casted and never had their own names before; as for his personal ones, he called them backup swords.
“Oh. How about naming this one Azure Water Sword” Lingling suggested with a smile. She then unsheathed Yeping's sword to find its workmanship equally good but not as sharp and more restrained.
"This is suitable for that girl. Does it also have no name"
“Yes, let her decide on the name herself,” Xianyao nodded in agreement.
“Alright then. That girl has been diligently training recently and has made some progress; she should reach Rank soon.” Lingling said casually about Yeping's recent activities.
Xianyao was well aware of it; he knew that Yeping would only come to him after breaking through to the Rank realm, until then she would focus solely on training.
Seeing how his sister worked so hard, as her brother, he couldn’t be any less diligent. He had been working towards the late King level for these days and was just short of achieving it.
The alchemy work could wait a few more days since the materials hadn't all been gathered yet; once they were complete, he would brew them at one go which would save time and effort.
Two nights later, Xianyao smoothly reached late King realm. This smooth transition even failed to alert Lingling who was nearby as she had not been staring at him but training herself as well.
"Brother, I don't feel good!"
The next morning after his breakthrough, he got visited by a sister, but it wasn’t Yeping. It was Zhen'er who looked flushed and seemed to have caught a cold.
Why did Zhen'er come to Xianyao Not because of their good relationship but simply as she believed that he could help her get better; as the Divine Farmer Sect’s cultivation method focused on recovery, it was the fastest way to heal.
"Let me check…" As usual, Xianyao took Zhen'er's pulse.
“Brother, I didn’t come for you to treat my illness; I’m a doctor myself. What I want is a bit of your Divine Farmer’s True Qi so that I can recover faster.” Zhen'er rolled her eyes at Xianyao. She was a professional doctor after all.
“Oh, right! Little Doctor Zhen,” Xianyao chuckled; as he had already known from taking her pulse that she only had a common cold and should be fine with some rest and medication. Hence, what she wanted was to recover faster using his True Qi.
“Of course!” Zhen'er laughed happily at receiving the praise.
Xianyao smiled and helped Zhen'er by injecting Divine Farmer’s True Qi into her body which would aid in her recovery. However, he still thought that she needed some rest too.
"Thank you brother; I’m off now." Feeling much better after receiving the True Qi injection from Xianyao, Zhen'er felt confident to carry on with her work.
“What for Aren’t you planning to continue your clinic hours Today is a rest day, go tomorrow.” Xianyao held onto Zhen'er and realized that she had come just so that she could be in the condition to work.
"I can't take a break; there are still many patients waiting for me." Zhen'er shook her head.
“Without you, they’ll find another doctor; you’re not able to treat every patient.” Xianyao replied irritably.
Zhen'er shook her head again. "Nope, they come specifically for me and I can't let them down. Besides, if I take a day off, some people will be unhappy."
Xianyao understood what Zhen'er meant; competition existed everywhere and especially within influential families where every position could have many contenders. Even her position at the clinic was not immune to this.
"If anyone has a problem, let me go and teach them a lesson." Xianyao immediately said, as he would be there for Zhen'er if she called him brother.
“…. Don’t do anything rash; I don't want to lose this job,” Zhen'er grabbed onto Xianyao's arm, rolling her eyes irritably at him.
"Even if I lose it, it doesn't matter. Brother has money to support you. If not, I can start a pharmacy." Xianyao said nonchalantly; this feeling was quite strange. When did he become like a nouveau riche
"No way! It's hard for me to achieve what I have now and I don't want people saying that I'm useless," Zhen'er shook her head. If it was just about living, who wouldn't be a princess They only wanted to prove their worth in the Luo family.
Even if Xianyao started his own pharmacy, Zhen'er still wanted to run this one because it belonged to the Luo family and she contributed to them.
Their wish was for the clan's approval; that was also their sense of belonging!
"Then how about I take your shift today so you can rest," Xianyao suggested. He thought his sisters needed taking care of, but he didn't have anything else to do anyway.
He believed if he didn’t go, Zhen’er would still insist on working, but it seemed like he had forgotten something: no one here knew that he was a doctor...
Zhen'er looked at Xianyao and asked with doubt: "Can you do this"
"Of course I can! My medical skills are so great, they could even be called divine," Xianyao puffed out his chest. He couldn't show off too much in front of her.
"Really" Zhen'er was doubtful.
"Fine then, if my medical skills aren’t good enough, I still have Shen Nong’s True Qi, so you can rest assured," Xianyao said helplessly. Proving his medical skills would be a headache; he didn't want to do it anyway.
"Alright, in that case, I'll go take a nap." Zhen'er replied.
"Take this medicine!" Xianyao took out a pill and was still worried that if she woke up soon after sleeping, she'd come back again. So he forced her to take the sleep-inducing medicine.
Zhen'er wanted to ask what it was but ended up swallowing the pill as Xianyao shoved it into her mouth.
"Alright, I'm off..." Just as Xianyao left, he stopped and turned back. He looked at Zhen’er with a strange expression on his face.
Zhen'er asked in confusion: "What's wrong"
“I don't know where you work,” said Xianyao.
"... " Zhen'er was speechless. She thought, “How can you be my brother if you don’t even know where I’m working” However, she believed he didn’t know the whereabouts of her elder and younger sisters either. Considering that he was helping her now, she decided to let it go for this time.
"I work at Huichun Hall in the eastern part of Luo City," Zhen'er replied.
“Huichun Hall, this name is very common and easy to remember. I will be there shortly,” Xianyao said offhand and left. There were at least eight out of ten pharmacies named Huichun Hall.
"Young Master, are you leaving Do you need a horse"
The guard by the door immediately asked after Xianyao had just stepped out. This wasn’t because he treated Xianyao specially but because everyone could have one if they needed it and there were enough horses in the Luo family.
Usually, not many would choose to ride a horse themselves; most of them called for carriages instead.
"Alright then, get me a horse," Xianyao nodded as he spoke. The eastern part was quite far and since this time it was to substitute Zhen'er’s shift, he couldn’t be late. He had no choice but to go quickly.
“Yes!” The guard instructed the stableman to bring out a horse. This stables were near the main gate where horses could be readied, not where they were actually kept.
Very soon, one of the servants brought out a chestnut brown horse which was no less than good quality and something that ordinary people would find hard to own. It indeed lived up to its reputation as being part of the Luo family.
"Young Master, here's your horse!"
"Thank you!" Xianyao said his thanks before mounting the horse and slowly riding away.
The servant felt somewhat touched: "This young master is very polite. He knows to say thank you and ride slowly, not like some brats who take off without a word and leave us behind in their dust." He rarely met such well-mannered masters as Xianyao.
"Indeed," the guard nodded.
“Whose son is he”
The guard replied, "He should be an adopted master since his jade card shows his name to be Le Xiaoyao. But it looks like his status isn’t low and he has some special privileges."
In the Jade Cards were not only identity information but also power levels or special privilege info which could be added through special methods. They would show up at guarded passages, including the main gate. That's perfect! The older members of the墨家 community, as well as others, were nonchalant about大小姐's peculiar interest. They simply thought she was just a playful young girl, and assumed that things wo...
