His daily routine was to read books, eat meals, and cultivate—quite a fixed lifestyle.

The next day, he also distributed the Dragon Blood Pills to Qi Bupo and Xiao Yizhu but refused their request for more as he wasn't one to indiscriminately dole out kindness; such items were only given to those close to him.

Qi Bupo didn’t press further since it was Xiaoyao’s decision. Instead, he asked Xiaoyao to help refine Dragon Blood Pills if he found any dragon blood stones in the future. Xiaoyao readily agreed as it was a simple task for him.

Xiaoyao had become somewhat famous in Shadow Moon Valley due to his relationship with Qi Bupo and because Qian Ran would often follow behind him. Many people visited Library Peak, whether daily or occasionally, making it easy for them to meet Xiaoyao who frequented the place every day.

They initially addressed Xiaoyao as the "Young Valley Lord" out of respect. It wasn't because they acknowledged him as the next valley lord; rather, Qi Bupo had no sons and only a daughter, so this title somewhat fulfilled his wish.

Xiaoyao didn’t particularly like being called by that title and asked everyone to call him by his name instead. Those in the Devil Path wouldn't be so formal either since he preferred it that way.

No one would hesitate to address Qi Bupo directly by his name, rather than calling him "Valley Lord," even if they were told not to.

Xiaoyao didn’t pay much attention to these details or Qian Ran who occasionally followed behind him. He simply ignored her since focusing on her slowed down his reading speed as he took it seriously.

"Xiaoyao, is it interesting for you to read books every day"

“Hmm…”

“Xiaoyao, can you bear reading like this It seems you're just flipping through the pages…”

“Hmm…”

"You're a little brat!"

“Hmm…”

“…”

“Hmm…”

“…”

The time passed for another two months. Xiaoyao had already read all the books in Shadow Moon Valley, primarily those from the Demon Sect. He’d mostly seen other books before and this round was particularly beneficial as it included a lot of things he only knew about superficially.

There were not just cultivation methods but also techniques that benefited him greatly across various aspects. He even found several interesting Demon Sect cultivation methods, significantly enhancing his survival skills.

Having read everything, there wasn’t much for Xiaoyao to do in Shadow Moon Valley. Thus, he proposed touring the Devil Realm with Qi Bupo.

Qi Bupo didn’t object when Xiaoyao mentioned wanting to travel; he just casually asked if the books were interesting and whether Xiaoyao felt tired enough to return to them.

"What You finished reading Xiaoyao, don't joke with me. The Shadow Moon Valley’s collection might not be the largest but it would take at least three or five years even just to browse through them, let alone study them in detail. What do you mean by finishing" Qi Bupo was stunned when he heard Xiaoyao's answer and wondered what exactly he meant.

"I finished reading because my reading speed is quite fast. I’ve already read many ordinary books," Xiaoyao explained casually, making Qi Bupo think that Xiaoyao had previously read a lot and thus managed to finish the collection in two months.

“Oh, so it’s like that. In that case, you can leave early with Ran. Have her guide you around the Devil Realm; it’ll be safer,” Qi Bupo nodded as he agreed for Xiaoyao to go out but insisted on Qian Ran accompanying him.

Having Qian Ran along would ensure safety since few would dare trouble her, especially now that she was a deity.

"Alright," Xiaoyao nodded; although he preferred freedom alone, safety came first here in the Devil Realm, and having a guide was also beneficial, one who was even his own person.

“So let’s set it for tomorrow then,” Qian Ran appeared out of nowhere and startled both men. With her current status as a deity, getting close to others went unnoticed by them at that distance.

"How do you sneak around like that…" Xiaoyao said to Qian Ran.

“I like it, what's it to you” Qian Ran glanced at him with an attitude of "try stopping me."

"Mind your own business, mind your own business. You're my sister and the eldest," Xiaoyao grumbled.

"Mmm hmm, very good, that’s being obedient!" Qian Ran said with a smile.

“Cough cough!” Qi Bupo cleared his throat to interrupt them, reminding both of him, “Don’t treat me like I’m not here.”

"Father, are you not feeling well As people age, they should take care of their health. I'm still young and don't want to serve you guys so early." Qi Yanran said very seriously, which made Qi Bupo furious.

"Cough..."

“Why are you still coughing Free Spirit, can you check if my father is going downhill” Qi Yanran said and pulled Free Spirit. It seemed that Free Spirit was ready to examine Qi Bupo for him, which made Qi Bupo speechless.

"Get lost! You don't know your place. Don’t you wish I were dead so no one would manage you" Qi Bupo said in a bad mood.

“If you die, mother is still here. Father, feel free to go. Free Spirit and I will take care of our mother.” Qi Yanran seemed filial as she spoke.

"Hmm… That’s what I want to hear… You can be certain about that, damn it! I almost got fooled by you. Listen carefully, if you don’t bring me a son-in-law this time, don’t even think of stepping into our house," Qi Bupo said angrily and jumped up to teach Qi Yanran a lesson. However, she immediately hid behind Free Spirit and used him as her shield while laughing heartlessly.

“Father, you should know that it’s hard to find good men in this world. I have to be careful since there is only one chance for me to do so.”

"Go away! You, damn girl, dare to say such things. Don’t tell me you learned it from somewhere" Qi Bupo said helplessly while looking at her; he was beyond managing this daughter of his.

“Of course I did. From you.” Qi Yanran replied directly. This reply made Qi Bupo want to crawl into a corner and draw circles, because in terms of personality, Qi Yanran indeed resembled him more.

"Well… I have one question for you guys. Could you tell me where Sister Yanran is going and what she’s doing" Free Spirit asked since he still didn’t understand the situation with Qi Yanran.

“Do you know that even though there is no Patriarch in the Demon Sect, there are two figures of authority”

"Oh, so you’re talking about the Son and Daughter of Heaven’s Devil. I’ve heard of them before. They change every twenty years. Could it be that Sister Yanran has been chosen to become the next Daughter of Heaven’s Devil" Free Spirit thought back to what he had learned as a demon child and started connecting the dots with Qi Yanran's situation.

"Smart, I am one of the candidates for the position of the daughter of the heaven’s devil. However, I believe that this time around, I will be victorious." Qi Yanran said with a smile.

“I see… That explains why your status is so special. You're one of the candidates to become the Daughter of Heaven's Devil. Even if you don't win this time, people still have to respect you.” Free Spirit nodded in understanding and went on to explain that losing didn’t mean she wasn’t respected; it was a common practice for all candidates to be treated with respect.

The same applied to the Son of Heaven’s Devil as well!

“Failure I won't fail. This position is mine, no doubt about it.” Qi Yanran said while clenching her fist.

"I don’t believe you!" Free Spirit replied without trying to provoke her; he simply knew that there were many candidates for the position of the daughter and none of them would be an easy one to beat. Qi Yanran was just one of them.

“I will prove it with results. If I win, what is your reaction going to be” Qi Yanran said while looking at Free Spirit with a playful expression in her eyes.

"Give me a round of applause." Free Spirit answered seriously.

"What are you trying to say You should go and die!" Qi Yanran kicked him, but he barely avoided it. He thought inwardly that his agility had saved him this time.

“You know, Sister… As you’re acting like this, how can you be the Daughter of Heaven’s Devil Don’t forget that this is Demon World and no one here acts like a lady.” Free Spirit said, but then he realized that he forgot something; in this world, these candidates were not ladies.

“What do you mean by ‘lady’ Don't forget we're choosing the Daughter of Heaven’s Devil, not a princess. I don’t care what others think.” Qi Yanran said nonchalantly, as if she was meant to be this way.

Free Spirit had no choice but to admit that he was wrong.

"Alright then… Get ready tomorrow morning and we’ll go." Qi Yanran patted Free Spirit's shoulder before disappearing into her room to pack. She seemed very excited about it.

"Sigh, girls grow up so fast. I feel like staying at home for a bit longer," Qi Bupo sighed as he said this to Free Spirit, "I'll take care of some things and will host an impromptu dinner tonight for you guys. Your auntie will prepare some great dishes."

“No need to trouble your aunt; I can do the cooking,” Free Spirit replied.

"You know how" Qi Bupo asked, surprised.

“Piece of cake. How could someone who was a house servant not be able to cook” Free Spirit said nonchalantly.

“Sigh… You’ve had it hard, but you have become what you are through your struggles.” Qi Bupo knew about his past and didn't hide it from him.

"This isn’t anything. Life is a training ground for me." Free Spirit smiled.

“You’re right… Alright then, I won’t worry about you anymore. If there are any problems, just find me,” Qi Bupo said before going off to take care of his business.

The night saw Free Spirit prepare a fine dinner which impressed the family with his cooking skills and they had an intimate dinner as if he were part of their family; of course one of them was their daughter (to be continued).wouldn’t be as good as his and its usefulness wouldn’t be so great either.Lastly, he found out that this nameless technique had mended many parts of the Divine Farmer Scripture, causing some changes t...
