If I win, you have to let me take your HQ by force. Then, I’ll use my dogs to bite off two parts of your body and a farmer one by one, without being able to quit midway. How does that sound"
When the man wearing the gourd cap said this, everyone around burst into mocking laughter and cheers, "Haha, rape her! That’s awesome! Bite her, bite hard!"
"StarCraft" is a competitive game. For those who love it, fighting each battle to the best of their ability is the least respect they can show for the game and its opponents. Yet this guy wearing a gourd cap was so shameless as to make such a vulgar bet that Lin Luoran would let him take over her base by force. Though this might be tolerable under normal circumstances, since it’s just a game after all, his audacity now, amidst everyone’s jeers, and his lewd remarks were truly infuriating for Lin Luoran, who glared at him, "You!"
These people came here to watch them play StarCraft, but also in part to see Lin Luoran. Perhaps half of them couldn’t get closer to her, but they still felt a thrill seeing her getting provoked and flustered.
"Alright!" Unexpectedly, the one who agreed first was actually Lin Lugang. He pointed at that man wearing the gourd cap, "If you lose, you’ll have to admit how dumb you are! You’re really stupid, you’re the most stupid! Wang Weiwei, if I can’t beat him today, I won’t let you off!"
"He might wish for your company," someone said unexpectedly, immediately causing more laughter. Though these people didn’t have any ill intentions and some of them were even innocent youngsters who blushed at Lin Luoran’s heart-pounding excitement as they laughed, it was enough to drive Lin Lugang crazy in his mind.
"Three versus two wins" The man quickly took control of the main computer and chose Zerg. Wang Weiwei joined with a gloomy expression, selecting Protoss from the six o’clock position. After putting down a supply depot and a beacon, he sent out scouts to reconnoiter.
While focusing on developing at home, suddenly, two red flashes appeared on his small map. Wang Weiwei’s heart skipped a beat as he clicked over to see that the dogs of the man in the gourd cap were attacking his farmers. He quickly moved his workers to another mining point and the man wearing the gourd cap snickered. The dog heads swiveled around, pouncing on Wang Weiwei’s central base. Evidently, they had predicted where he was based after realizing that the area he retreated to was unoccupied.
Just as his first tier unit—the Zealot—came out, also known as "Fork," he barely held off the initial attack when another one emerged. The four dogs then crossed paths and pounced on his mining workers.
The man in the gourd cap led these few dogs into battle while dragging Wang Weiwei’s Zealots into a frenzied chase, biting down two more farmers before they paid for their losses with two of their own dogs to retreat with what was left of their force.
At this point, there wasn’t even the slightest bit of underestimation in Wang Weiwei’s heart. He could tell that the micro-control skills of this man wearing a gourd cap were still slightly better than his. Focusing solely on tech progression and expanding his army, with a pair of Zealots and half a squad of Dragoons, their first round of onslaught took place on the central plain where Zealot dogs and Hydralisk saliva dragons attacked in droves while Zerg swarms pressed against Wang Weiwei’s defensive line.
The little dogs were like ant colonies swirling around to engulf Wang Weiwei’s Dragoons, while the Hydralisks focused on chasing his Zealots with their ranged attacks.
At the same time, Zerg transport aircraft glided into Wang Weiwei’s base.
"Ambush!" Wang Weiwei quickly realized and used a few Dragoons that had been stationed at the base ahead of time to counterattack. However, the large number of Zealot dogs coming down from the transport swiftly overwhelmed them before rapidly pouncing on his mining workers.
Amidst the crowd's sighs of disappointment, Wang Weiwei’s main base suffered an attack and his front-line forces immediately collapsed. Swarm units swarmed into Wang Weiwei’s main base, quickly turning it into a sea of blue flames.
Gu Gaitou promptly popped out from beside the monitor to taunt them, "This is the first game he won by cheating. Next game, I'll finish him off!"
"You really are stupid! How could you lose" Ling Zouru angrily slapped Wang Weiwei’s shoulder while Wang Weiwei was equally furious, saying, "Damn it, this kid's pretty strong!"
Su Can chuckled from the side and said, "Do you want me to step in If I do, you must promise me one thing."
"Expert" Only then did Wang Weiwei and Ling Zouru remember that Su Can was also a gaming expert. Wang Weiwei immediately said, "If you can do it, come on, crush him! He's being too arrogant. Too arrogant!
Whatever your condition is, if I win ten conditions, I'll agree to them!"
"Alright then." Wang Weiwei stepped aside and Su Can took his seat with a mouse in hand.
Gu Gaitou snorted and said, "Looking for reinforcements Fine. But since you two are working together anyway, if I win, the bet must still stand!"
Ling Zouru hurriedly stepped forward and said without hesitation, "Of course! He can represent us all! If he loses, then you must call him a fool!"
Then she grabbed Su Can’s arms with both hands, her face showing only Su Can the nervousness that was brewing inside, "Hey, are you really up to this"
Thinking of Gu Gaitou's lecherous expression earlier, she felt repulsed. With her clear distinction between friend and foe, losing face wasn't an option; if she were humiliated, Wang Weiwei’s good days would be numbered. Moreover, Su Can had also joined in this affair—she might even lash out at him as well. If that happened, regardless of who he was, she wouldn’t care.
Thinking about Ling Zouru possibly blowing up, Su Can could only smile bitterly and said, "I'll do my best."
After becoming the host, upon seeing that Su Can had selected a random race, Gu Gaitou's expression turned solemn. Generally speaking, only versatile experts would choose to use a random race; one reason being not letting their opponents figure out their opening strategy and thus countering it.
Hence, Gu Gaitou didn't adopt the same relentless harassment tactics against Wang Weiwei in this game as before. Moreover, given Su Can's low-key personality, he didn't have the idea of starting with an aggressive strategy to crush Su Can’s morale right from the beginning. He had different strategies for dealing with players who weren’t overly arrogant.
But when Gu Gaitou completed his economic development and converted these resources into military power before venturing out to scout, the surrounding spectators couldn't help but murmur in surprise.
The player wearing the helmet felt anxious like a cat being prodded, thinking that those who watch chess without speaking are true gentlemen. The same can be said for playing games; no one around him had any integrity and didn't offer any hints or advice. However, this shout represented an unexpected move from his opponent.
The player wearing the helmet, with a shadow in his heart, immediately dispatched his reconnaissance forces to discover that Su Cen wasn't being modest but was completely unpredictable. The reconnaissance force found him at an inconspicuous secondary mining area; launching two barracks directly as an opening move—what kind of strategy is this
The vanguard of the player wearing the helmet's reconnaissance force immediately attacked Su Cen's base while simultaneously rushing back home to reinforce air defense facilities. He was also worried that Su Cen might climb technology and launch another sneak attack, which would be embarrassing if he fell victim to his own tactics.
In this era, StarCraft had just begun its explosive popularity but didn't mean the formation of many techniques, tactics, or strategies. From this point on, it marked a decade-long period of continuous development in the world of esports where various strategic and tactical methods were continuously developed and perfected in global e-sports competitions. Although Su Cen couldn't possibly fully grasp these technologies and strategies, he still had an understanding of many imitation world-level methods, which resembled the real thing by four or five parts.
Being able to do this was enough. Double wild barracks emerged.
The crowd exclaimed again.
The player wearing the helmet flinched as he saw his sentry dogs turn into a puddle of blood when attacking Su Cen's base.
Then, on the map, he saw that Su Cen's zealots were rushing towards his main base. His zerg forces screamed as they rushed to meet the protoss zealots charging at their hatchery with energy blades. The sharp teeth and claws tried to tear open the protoss zealots' energy armor, while the spine lashing out corrosive liquid from its jaws sprayed these dual-wielding protoss berserkers. As the last warrior stabbed through a spine's skull, zerg forces swarmed in behind him.
A pool of blood splashed out; the keyboard of the player wearing the helmet was hit hard as he exited the game.
Wang Weiwei's side cheered loudly. This was the first time that the crowd saw such a brutal and violent style of play, with their 'urban management forces' directly bulldozing the enemy!
The score was tied at one-all for the final round; the player wearing the helmet had given up hope. He didn't believe that he, who rotated between various internet cafes daily and silently learned all kinds of skills behind experts every day, would be defeated by a small trick today.
Therefore, the zerg worker bees began to scout around upon their first appearance; seeing Su Cen's human forces diligently constructing buildings, the player wearing the helmet snorted. He thought there must be some shocking strategy, but it turned out to be a rookie tactic of blocking intersections and retreating.
Thus, he directly gathered his barracks in the central plain to suppress Su Cen's human expansion. The human forces' defense was indeed excellent; without air support, breaking through the defenses of tanks and bunkers was like grinding meat.
Right when the player wearing the helmet was desperately defending the intersection, occupying a mineral line, and preparing for powerful combined land and air attacks, he heard the crowd behind him exclaim sharply again: "Wow!"
"What are you wow-ing at" The player wearing the helmet's hand trembled as Su Cen's blocking forces rose up at the intersection; a wave of SCVs followed by a squad of vultures flew out.
The mine-laying vehicles are the fastest unit in the entire game, instantly leaving behind a group of dogs and saliva dragons that had gathered outside Su Can's house to watch the spectacle. Seven or eight mine-laying vehicles headed straight towards his satellite base, while the rest of the dogs and saliva dragons, like untamed barbarians, followed closely behind.
Once they entered the base, the mine-laying vehicles started attacking the Zerg workers with all their might. Afterward, they even laid mines at the intersection, causing chaos among the pursuing Zerg forces before dragging this large family towards another base.
Only when Guatai discovered that his troops were dwindling due to the constant supply of mine-laying vehicles did he realize how impressive Su Can's skills were.
The crowd behind him exclaimed, "Wow!"
Sweat trickled down Guatai’s neck as he frantically checked the map: where Where Which place was on fire
It turned out that Su Can had noticed his mine-laying vehicles being surrounded by a large number of Zerg units. In an emergency, he quickly lifted one of his barracks and flew it outside the base to block the entrance. This move held no special significance; its sole purpose was to confuse the crowd about what kind of brilliant strategy he might be planning.
Indeed, Guatai had become a frightened bird, frantically checking everything around him. During this time, Su Can took advantage of his opponent's brief lapse in micro-management and watched as his mine-laying vehicles slipped past the advancing Zerg army without resistance.
The increasingly desperate Guatai heard another gasp from behind him and felt like he was about to cry: "Can't you guys stop this! It’s just a game! Do you need to push someone into a state of mental exhaustion!"
But Su Can didn’t play along with his ruse this time. As Guatai's dog patrol units passed by the edge of Su Can's base, they realized that they hadn't encountered any tank attacks. Meanwhile, Su Can’s tanks and mechanized forces had quietly moved to the entrance of Guatai's main base, setting up a formidable defensive formation around his front gate to decimate his main force.
Seeing his units being annihilated one after another by the intense firepower from the defenders' formations, Guatai’s heart bled; those were the assets he had painstakingly accumulated in the early stages of the game!
After eliminating most of the opposition, humans armed with rifles, accompanied by nurses tending to medics on the ground, slowly entered the Zerg base. They smoked cigars and picked off the fleeing dogs and scattered saliva dragons one by one while the massive tanks behind them extended their city-busting cannons, bombarding the agitated hive.
With a final click of the mouse, Guatai quit the game. The feeling of exhaustion washed over him, comparable to having just taken an overnight exam for college entrance exams.
The crowd erupted into chaos; even then, they no longer felt jealousy towards Su Can, who was leaning against Lin Lanran’s chair with her flowers trembling slightly.
One person said, "To achieve this level requires innate talent. You need to be able to read every change in your opponent's tactics and psychology and counter them accordingly. Such talent is something you can't learn; it would take me at least three years to catch up with him." Wang Weiwei and others nodded their heads in agreement. Excitement aside, they suddenly remembered that Su Can had asked for a favor in return. What was it
